Frequently Asked Questions
How does payment work for a video or photography project?
For projects over $500, we require a 50% deposit at signing to reserve your date – this deposit is non-refundable, and the remaining 50% is due under net-30 terms once you receive your rough-cut assets. For projects under $500, full payment is due upfront before we begin. This structure lets us lock in crew, equipment, and your date with confidence on both sides. For any cancelled events or shoots, this deposit may be credited to another project within the next 12 months.
Do I own the final photos and videos once the project is done?
Yes. Once final payment is received, you get full, exclusive ownership of all final Assets for unlimited use across any platform – your website, social media, ads, wherever you need them. MJS Live retains ownership of the raw, unedited footage and project files, and may use brief clips or stills from the finished work in our own portfolio and marketing.
What do I need to prepare before my shoot?
As the client, you handle what we call the Four P’s: People (talent or subjects are ready and available), Place (the location is prepped and accessible), Props (anything needed on camera is on-site), and Parking (our crew has a place to load in and park). If you’d rather hand off any of that logistics work, we can manage pre-production for an additional fee – just ask when we scope your project.
How far in advance do I need to book, and can I reschedule?
We recommend locking in your date as early as possible, and cannot guarantee staff booked for a date less than 14 days in advance. Since deposits reserve your shoot day on our calendar. If you need to reschedule, we ask for at least 7 days’ notice with no extra charge (your deposit carries over); requests within that 7-day window may carry a small rescheduling fee to cover costs already committed on our end.
What's included in the price - is editing part of every package?
Every project includes planning (a pre-production call, then a documented call sheet and shot list before we shoot), full photo and video editing (unless otherwise specified), and a defined delivery timeline: photo selects within 24 hours, a full album within 7 days, and video rough cuts within 30 days. Any add-ons like drone coverage, additional crew, expedited turnaround, or pre-production coordination are scoped and priced individually in your quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before you sign.
